Memories

My work often begins with a memory.

A person, a place, a feeling - sometimes clear, sometimes only a fragment. Images from childhood, from Iran, Denmark and the many places I have lived or passed through find their way into my paintings.

I am not trying to recreate the past. I am interested in what remains of it - how memories change with time, and how certain moments stay with us without us quite knowing why.

Some paintings are recognisable, others more abstract. For me, they belong to the same world.

They are traces of a life lived between places, cultures and time.
